What is your ideal life?

by admin on June 11, 2008

If you could make your life into anything you wanted, what would it look like? People who take life seriously are people who realize that you CAN have whatever life you want, given certain physical limitations. What I mean is, if you are a 130 pound girl, life as a sumo wrestler might not be the best choice for you, you may want to re-think that one. Other than obvious limitations, almost any present circumstance can be overcome and your life altered to be what you want it to be. The first question you need to answer is, what do you want?

Big question. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Break it down. Where do you want to live and work? (Ideally) How would you like to look? What kind of people would you really like to hang with? How would you spend an ideal day? (that’s the big one) Start thinking about all the details.

This is the exercise I’d like you to do. Start a new document on your computer. Title it “My Ideal Day.” Take your time. This may take weeks or you may be able to bang it out all at once but keep at it, this is one of the most important things you will ever do! This is your life we’re talking about, after all. I want you to describe what your ideal day would be like. Start to finish. This is a narrative, not a list. You are going to fill it with imagery, emotions, powerful descriptions. Describe every single detail at length. Edit it over and over until it sounds absolutely perfect to your ears. Reading it should fill you with joy.  Read it every day.

Doing this exercise will cause you to have to think more deeply than you perhaps ever have about this one shot at life we all have. One life, well spent, can make a world of difference, that’s what it is all about. What can you do with your life that will be a force for good? We all bring different talents and gifts and it is up to us to figure out what those are and how we could apply them to not only serve ourselves but to serve others. Don’t misunderstand, most good in the world goes unnoticed, I’m not talking about what the world notices, making noise does not suffice for accomplishing. Those who make the least noise, who get none of the credit, are the people that make the world work. What counts is what you know inside. One of my favorite sayings comes from the former Congressmen, J.C. Watts, “character is doing the right thing, even when no one is looking.”

This document is a living, breathing repository for your dreams. It is a blueprint for achieving them. You are mapping out your destination. Fill it with positive emotions. Read it out loud to yourself first thing in the morning and last thing at night before going to sleep. You will be amazed what the subconscious will provide.

Good luck. You’ve got the same 24 hours a day that everybody else has, now how will you create yours to serve your purpose?

Well that’s a brilliant exercise. Writing down your ideas about life is really important & more important is to work on that ideas. I mean nothing is impossible, it takes time to achieve something. By the way, My ideal life would be to live in a high mountainous region, most likely in Asia, Feel the fresh breath or in simple words to live in peace.
