Political freedom. We, the people, decide who will govern us. This nation was founded on the idea that basic human rights of freedom were not something granted to us by a government. Our rights to freedom were ours naturally, and it is we who gave to government the right to govern us. They would not have you think so, but they work for us, not the other way around. We tell our government what we want it to do for us.
We also have the freedom to fail. One reason our economy always bounces back quicker that others, like Japan, is that we don’t prop up losing ideas. Back when we had our last savings and loan banking crisis. We recovered within a year or two, Japan took ten years because they wouldn’t allow banks to fail.
Here, you are free to pursue your dreams, whatever they may be, better than anywhere on the planet. The only thing holding you back is you. Yes you. Don’t make excuses, because that’s all they are, excuses. One of the best ways to pursue your dreams is by operating a small business. Small business is the engine that grows this nation. It isn’t government that grows anything.
I can hear the naysayer now. Are you saying people do not have artificial barriers placed in their path? Do we not still suffer from racism and sexism? Of coarse. Humans will never achieve perfection. We do a much better job of pulling these weeds than we used to and we will continue to be vigilant against all forms of hatred. The more open and connected we become to each other, the less evil can hide.
